Why join Vail Youth Voices?

Music and the Arts are fun and entertaining components of a child’s education.  There are many benefits for Students who attend music lessons regularly.  Students who participate in music earn better grades, experience lower stress, demonstrate improved social skills, and even enjoy a longer life span.
Sadly, schools are cutting funding and placing less emphasis on music education.  For this reason, Vail Youth Voices community choir was created to help supplement local school programs.  Vail Youth Voices gives singers the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of choir in a fun, engaging learning atmosphere.  Share the love of music with your child by enrolling and singing with Vail Youth Voices.

 

Who can join Vail Youth Voices?

Enrollment is open to any school age youth between the 2nd grade and 12th grade.  Moreover, Vail Youth Voices accepts home school students, charter school students and students outside of the Vail School District.

 

Is any prior music or singing experience necessary for enrollment?

Singers of all experience and singing levels are welcome to add their voices to ours.  Even those with no prior musical knowledge can register.  Singers will have the opportunity to learn more about singing and music during rehearsals.  This learning opportunity comes through stories and playing games.

 

Do singers need to audition to join Vail Youth Voices?

No audition is necessary to join Beginning Choir or Advanced Choir at this time.

 

Should my child join Beginning or Advanced Choir?

Students join Beginning Choir or Advanced Choir depending on their grade level, age, maturity, and prior musical experience. Students between 2nd – 6th usually join Beginning ChoirAdvanced Choir is for grades 6-12.  If you have any questions, feel free to Contact Us.  Our artistic director would be delighted to answer your questions.

 

When are rehearsals?

All rehearsals are held on Tuesdays in the Esmond Station music room.  Beginning Choir meets from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm.  Advanced Choir meets from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Additional information about our rehearsal schedule can be found on both the Beginning Choir and Advanced Choir Pages.

 

How many performances are in a school year?

Choir members have the opportunity to sing for two semesters in each school year.  The first semester begins in early August and ends in late November.  Similarly, the second semester traditionally begins in early in January and ends late in April.  At the end of each semester, choir students get to show off their new musical prowess by performing in an exciting concert.  For additional concert information visit our Concert Page.

 

How much is tuition?

Vail Youth Voices has two tuition plans to help meet the needs of families.  The first option available is monthly tuition payments.  The second option is a single Semester payment.  The cost for Beginning Choir is $20 monthly or $65 a semester.  Advanced Choir tuition is $40 monthly or $130 for the semester.  Tuition is due at the first rehearsal.  Feel free to visit our Tuition Page for more detailed information.

 

How do I register for Vail Youth Voices?

Registering for Vail Youth Voices is simple.  All you have to do is read the handbook available on our Register Now Page.  Once you have finished reading, fill out an enrollment form.  Please make sure you fill out a separate enrollment form for each singer joining choir.  We have both a downloadable and an online enrollment form available for your convenience.  If you choose to use the downloadable enrollment form, make sure you remember to provide notice to the Artistic Director.  Contact will ensure a choir folder is ready and waiting for your child at the first rehearsal.

 

Does my child have to sing for both Fall and Spring Semester?

Singers do not have to enroll for both Fall and Spring Semesters.  They can sing for Fall Semester only, Spring Semester only, or both semesters.

 

What is the refund policy?

Occasionally, there are Students who desire to discontinue participation in Vail Youth Voices.  These students may stop at any time.  Notice of withdrawal must be in writing.  In order to receive a full refund, students must withdraw no later than after the second rehearsal, but before the third rehearsal of the semester.  Students who wish to withdraw after the third rehearsal are not entitled to a refund.
